Inspiring Stories

 At the compound Community block club we provide mentorship and guidance to young adults across Detroit through life skills training and personal growth programs. We have also delivered music, art, and creative writing programs in Detroit and Mount Clemens Schools through our partnership with Communities In Schools, expanding our impact into classrooms and youth spaces. In the neighborhoods we serve we are honored to be known as Uncle Rick and auntie Kathy to hundreds of young people. This nickname isn't just love, it represents the trust, family, and consistent support we strive to provide every day. At CCBC, our mission is to foster a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment where young adults can grow, express themselves, and build the confidence to shape their future.    

Our Biggest Achievement

Surviving the challenges that come with being passionate about service and change - especially on a limited budget- has been one of our greatest accomplishments since 2018. Working entirely out of our own pockets, we have witness homes transforming to communities, anger turn into love, hopelessness evolve into hope, and conversations grow into meaningful action. Through this work, we've learned that most people simply need someone who will truly listen, someone who believes in their potential, and someone who shows up for them consistently. This belief is the foundation of the compound Community block club and the fuel behind every program we offer. Our mission continues because we see the strength, resilience, and promise in the people we serve - and we are committed to walking with them as they rise.
